Product Spotlight: TIZO3 SPF 40

TiZo 40 spf: this sunscreen is the bomb!

It has a silky matte finish with an incredibly slight tint that helps you know where you have covered and what spots you've missed. It is very water-resistant, which means that those of you who tend to feel slimy and sweaty with traditional sunscreens will feel none of that.

This is the only sunscreen I have ever tried that I can honestly say feels like nothing on my face.

Best of all, TiZo is formulated using only mineral sunblock ingredients (titanium, iron and zinc oxides, hence "TIZO").

It has no chemical agents, no oil, no PABA, no parabens and no fragrance. So it is perfect for even the most sensitive skins. I have long had all of my rosacea and sensitive clients on it and I'm glad to be able to offer it in our office now.

I am thrilled to have discovered this product and can't wait to introduce you to it. . . just in time for Indian Summer!

Available in our office and by mail to our registered clients.

Massage and Migraines, from the Huffington Post

Performed by the University of Miami School of Medicine, as published by the International Journal of Neuroscience, two groups of migraine suffers were studied. The first group (control group) took their prescribed medicine for the entire month, but did not receive massage therapy. The second group took their prescribed medicine as well, but also received a weekly massage. 60% of the massaged group had absolutely no migraines or headaches for the entire month. The massage therapy also helped to alleviate sleep problems and increased serotonin levels.

Artisan Skincare Manufacturers Threatened. You Can Help.

Apotheca opposes the FDA Globalization Act of 2008. If passed, this legislation would put thousands of small scale and artisinal skincare manufacturers just like ourselves out of business by forcing us to pay outrageous registration fees and jump through a maddening maze of bureaucratic hoops.

For those of you who like to buy handcrafted niche products, and who value a marketplace filled with diverse and local, sustainable beauty products such as the line Apotheca has spent many long months in formulation: this legislation will make near-impossible your ability to find natural, small scale products.

Instead, it favors the multinational cosmetics houses who spend their enormous budgets on packaging and advertising, and whose products sadly suffer with the addition of cheap, unhealthy synthetic ingredients.

As a conscious and careful small business owner, I believe that consumers must be protected from harmful practices. As an avid supporter of local independent business, I believe that this proposed legislation would only harm consumers by stamping out diversity of choice. It would also sound the death knell to the many small businesses who are the lifeblood of our faltering US economy. I urge others to oppose the FDA Globalization Act of 2008.

For manufacturers and shoppers of independent businesses both, please sign the petition to stop the FDA Globalization Act of 2008 here.

Thank you,
